Plan documents, language, authority fees, compensatory training, housing deposit, travel and a realistic income buffer.

Build the budget by stage, not one headline total

There is no universal relocation price for a foreign nurse. Recognition route, country of documents, German level, compensatory measures, family size, city and employer support change the total. Use separate envelopes for qualification, immigration, housing and living costs, and add contingency rather than trusting an agency’s fixed package promise.

    Budget the qualification file first

List authority fees, certified copies, apostille or legalisation where required, court-certified translations, postage and replacement educational records. Add German classes and examinations. If the decision prescribes courses, examinations or clinical placements, obtain written provider prices and dates before relocating; a decision does not reserve a place or guarantee income.

    Separate immigration and travel costs

Third-country nationals should budget the current residence or visa fee, document legalisation, embassy travel and collection trips; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens follow different rules. Use only the competent representation’s current checklist. Include transport to Austria, baggage, temporary accommodation and local transport without assuming reimbursement until it appears in a signed agreement.

Housing creates the largest early cash need

Plan deposit, first rent, temporary stay, utilities, basic furnishings and transport to work. Never send a deposit before verifying landlord, property and contract. If employer housing is offered, ask for monthly cost, deposit, room standard, duration, salary deductions and what happens when employment ends. Keep a private exit reserve.

Protect a buffer until lawful income starts

A job offer may depend on recognition, registration and residence approval, so the first salary date can move. Model at least a conservative period of food, housing, insurance gaps, phone and transport, plus family costs. Our assessment can create a personal document and timing map; it cannot guarantee authority dates, course availability or employer reimbursement.
