Who Actually Needs Nostrification?
Nostrification is primarily relevant to certain nursing qualifications obtained in third countries. Qualifications from the EU, EEA or Switzerland normally follow professional recognition rules. A third-country qualification can sometimes enter a recognition route after recognition and sufficient professional practice in an EU, EEA or Swiss state.

Build the Curriculum Evidence
The assessing institution needs enough detail to compare your education with the Austrian qualification. Diplomas alone may be insufficient; curricula, subject descriptions, theory hours and clinical placements can be important.
Request detailed academic records early. Then follow the chosen institution's current rules for originals, certified copies, translations and legalization. Requirements can differ, so one province's checklist should not be copied into another application.
Decision, Additional Training and Temporary Work
If equivalence is not complete, the nostrification decision can prescribe examinations, courses or clinical practice. The overall duration depends heavily on these measures and available training places, so a guaranteed six-month completion date is not credible.
Official Nursing in Austria guidance describes limited temporary work possibilities at a lower nursing level in defined circumstances while nostrification is pending. Registration and the precise statutory conditions still apply; this is not automatic permission to work as a fully qualified nurse.
Costs Must Be Quoted by the Actual Institution
Application, translation, legalization, course and examination costs differ by institution and individual decision. Ask for the current fee schedule and estimate the cost of any required supplementary education after the authority has assessed the file.
Before accepting employer sponsorship, read repayment clauses and obligations carefully. Confirm what happens if recognition takes longer, the employment ends or additional training is more extensive than expected.
