What Employers Usually Need to Establish
An interview commonly explores clinical experience, communication, documentation, teamwork, shift availability and the status of German and professional recognition. The exact questions vary by employer and unit; no list of 15 questions can be guaranteed as the questions a hospital will use.
Prepare examples that show safe judgement: recognizing deterioration, escalating concerns, preventing medication errors, communicating with relatives and working within your competence.
Explain Your Recognition Status Precisely
State which qualification you hold, which procedure applies, what has been submitted and whether a formal decision exists. Do not describe an application as approved before the authority has issued its decision.
Ask what role you would hold before full recognition, who supervises it, how the pay classification works and whether training time is paid.
Prepare Questions for the Employer
Ask about the applicable collective agreement, pay group, credited experience, weekly hours, night and weekend expectations, onboarding, staffing, language support and recognition assistance. Request important commitments in writing.
If accommodation or document costs are offered, clarify repayment clauses. If a recruiter is involved, understand who employs you and whether any fee is charged to you.
German and Clinical Communication
Practise a concise self-introduction and structured clinical examples in German, but do not memorize answers you cannot adapt. It is safer to ask for clarification than to pretend to understand a clinical question.
Bring the documents requested by the employer, but avoid sending passports, certificates or personal data to unverified contacts. A legitimate offer should identify the employer, role, work location and contractual terms.
