Find verified Austrian hospital, care-home and mobile-care career portals and screen offers before sharing documents or paying fees.
Start with verified employer career portals
Austria has no single permanent list of employers that will hire every international nurse. Vacancies change daily and eligibility depends on professional recognition, registration, German and immigration status. Search the direct portals of Wiener Gesundheitsverbund, Lower Austria's NÖ LGA, provincial hospital groups, Ordensklinikum, Caritas and other established providers. Apply to a named vacancy and confirm the web domain before uploading identity documents.
Hospitals offer breadth but usually require a precise title
Public hospital groups advertise DGKP, PFA and sometimes PA roles across wards, theatres, outpatient units and rehabilitation. Wiener Gesundheitsverbund operates clinics and care homes and publishes its vacancies directly; NÖ LGA covers hospitals plus care and support centres. The required Austrian title, register entry, specialty and shifts appear in each advert. A shortage does not allow an employer to ignore regulated-profession rules.
Care homes and mobile care are separate opportunities
Residential facilities, charitable providers and home-care services frequently advertise PA, PFA and DGKP positions. Caritas career pages, for example, show the exact weekly hours, location, collective-agreement minimum and register requirement. Mobile roles may require a driving licence and independent travel; long-term care may emphasise dementia, palliative care and resident relationships. Match your genuine experience rather than applying to every listing.
Some employers run international recruitment programmes
International recruitment exists, but programmes open by cohort and country rather than accepting every applicant continuously. Ordensklinikum Linz publicly described a language and integration programme for nurses recruited abroad, including clinical language, accompanied ward work and administrative support. Treat this as evidence that programmes exist, not a promise of a current place. Verify the live careers page and contact the employer through its official domain.
Screen the offer before sharing money or originals
Confirm legal employer name, worksite, Austrian title, duties, hours, collective agreement, gross base pay, allowances, credited experience, probation, accommodation deductions and who pays recognition or language costs. Never pay for a guaranteed authority decision, visa or job. Recognition, register entry and residence permission remain separate gates. Use the nurse eligibility assessment first so you target employers matching your likely level and document status.
