Present recognition status honestly, target verified employers and make every offer conditional on lawful title and work permission.

You can search early, but you cannot bypass professional rules

A foreign nurse can contact Austrian employers before recognition or nostrification is complete. An interview or conditional offer does not itself authorise nursing practice. Be precise about whether your file is not submitted, pending, decided with compensatory measures or fully completed. The lawful Austrian title, Health Professions Register entry and any immigration permission must be in place for the work actually performed.

    Build an employer-ready evidence pack

Send a concise German CV, diploma summary, clinical departments and years of experience, current German level, nationality and residence status, plus the exact recognition authority and file stage. If you have a decision, share the permitted profession and measures—not unnecessary sensitive records. A clear one-page status summary helps a hospital or care provider judge start conditions without mistaking your foreign title for Austrian authorisation.

Target employers that can handle conditional hiring

Use official career portals of hospitals, provincial health groups, established care homes and mobile-care organisations, as well as Austria’s public employment service. Search for PA, PFA and DGKP roles separately. Ask whether the employer accepts candidates during recognition, supports clinical placements or language development, and has experience coordinating residence paperwork. Verify every recruiter through the employer’s public contact channel.

Make the offer match the decision

If a final decision permits temporary lower-level work during compensatory measures, the contract must use that lawful role: for example, a DGKP nostrification candidate may temporarily work as PFA. The official option is limited to two years and still requires registration. Pay group, duties, start condition, costs, repayment clauses and the planned upgrade after completion should all be written rather than promised in a call.

Reject guarantees and sequence the move safely

No private recruiter can guarantee recognition, register entry or a residence permit. Avoid advance fees for a guaranteed job, requests to surrender originals, or pressure to resign and travel before written conditions are clear. Our nursing eligibility assessment can turn your education, German and immigration facts into an employer-ready route; the competent authorities and employer retain their respective decisions.
